I think old ledgers or organizational diaries are fascinating. This one is from 1950 and I think it may have been a ledger used to manage rental properties. It contains rents as well as expenses. All of the writing is in pencil, and the writing is fairly precise and legible. There are a total of 188 pages. The first 70 pages record the rents received from individuals from 1950 to 1966, then there are 34 blank pages, then on page 105 expenses from 1950 are recorded and expenses continue to 1966 on page 150, and then the last 38 pages are blank. The cover is made to look like beautifully tooled cloth, and it reflects an age when books like these were made with craftsmanship and quality and were meant buying to last. There is a small label inside the front cover from William G. Hintz Inc. Books and Stationary of Reading, Pennsylvania, so it is likely that the ledger would be purchased locally making the housing likely in or around Reading, PA. The ledger measures about 12 1/8" by 7 1/2" by 1/2" and the inside pages are in decent condition, and the cover shows some wear, as does the spine. The binding is secure, and all of the pages are intact and secure. In fair to good condition.
