An archaeology inspired smooth or hammered finish rustic chopper type knife, hand forged by me, a blacksmith and archaeologist in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
The item you will receive will be similar to those in the photos, but each piece is slightly different and is made to order.
The design for the handle of the knife combines elements from a knife in the Iron Age and Roman midden at Cold Kitchen Hill in Hampshire and the Iron Age votive deposition at Garton Slack in the East Riding of Yorkshire. The knife blade design combines Roman and Norse Viking elements from finds throughout Scotland and England.
The overall design is meant to be used for cooking but may also be suited for bushcraft.
The buying blade lengths are between 8-10cm and the handle lengths are between 10-12cm. The edges will be supplied sharpened!

****You may now choose between four different types of metal: 1. mild steel, 2. high carbon steel (good for edge retention and overall durability) 3. 'any old iron' and 4. tool steel (best for durability and edge hardness). The 'any old iron' option is of an unknown grade of steel from a salvage/scrap yard and has the most character.
Beeswax and neatsfoot oil are used to protect the knife from surface corrosion. If these are unavailable, olive oil may be substituted in the future if required.
All knives are oil quenched and tempered to further increase hardness and edge longevity.
By purchasing this item you confirm that you are of legal age to own a knife and that you will use it responsibly.
