buying Vintage Japanese pottery fresh water container (Mizusashi) of Kyo ware (Kyo yaki). Decorated with Paulownia arabesque (Kiri Karakusa) design hand painted overglaze. It's EXCELLENT work. Made by Juraku Kawazoe. The potter mark is stamped on the bottom.
Mizusashi is a lidded container for fresh cold water used by the host in the tea room during ceremonies. The water is mainly used to replenish the water in the Kama (Kettle) at the end of certain ceremonies.
Kyo ware (Kyo yaki) is a type of Japanese pottery traditionally from Kyoto. It is therefore also known as Kyoto ware.
