Description

Product Name: 1906 Birket buying Foster First Edition Cundall Illustrated Colour

This work is from the 'Black's Beautiful Books' series, that was widely distinguished for their copious coloured illustrations and elaborate decorative cloth bindings.

With a charming catalogue of 'Black's Beautiful Books' to the rear of the work.

This work is dedicated to Foster's oldest son of the same name, Myles Birket Foster. Foster Junior was a notable organist who composed cantatas for children's voices, and wrote a 'History buying of the Philharmonic Society' in 1913.

With numerous in-text black and white illustrations and black and white plates. Collated, complete with seventy three coloured plates. Condition Report: In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding, with gilt stamped title to front board and spine. Externally generally smart, with bumping to head and tail of spine resulting in small splits to cloth. Fading to spine, as expected with this colour binding, with the occasional faint mark to boards. Slight offsetting to endpapers. Portrait frontispiece plate and protective tissue guard detached but present. Internally firmly bound. Pages slightly age toned to extremities but bright and clean, with the odd light spot to the occasional page. Overall: Very Good Indeed
