Spalted maple handcrafted carving mallet. I personally split the log, turned the mallet, shaped, sanded and finished through all steps. This particular mallet weighs ~16 ounces and is ~11 inches long. The head is ~2-3/4 inches in diameter and ~4-1/2 inches long. The mallet has been finished with several clear coats of shellac. The mallet is one that you will be able to use for a lifetime and is perfect for cutting dovetails and tenons, leather work, or for fine detailed carving.
